Hi Jerry,

The block or ring or spectra loops (depending on what was chosen for the attachment to the yard) can be moved.

John's instructions mean the attachment point along the yard for the rope loop that connects the block to the yard. So your idea is correct.

All looks good, very helpful. I am wondering about one of the tips, it says, "adjust yard halyard turning block to get the luff parallel to the mast." It seems to me that adjusting where the yard halyard attaches to the yard would make that adjustment, rather than the block. Am I missing something?

In reply to <a href="https://reallysimplesails.com/using-really-simple-sails-on-other-boats-advice-and-dimensions/#comment-25972">William (Bill) Joshnick</a>.

Hi Bill,

Sorry about the slow reply. The sail works well. This is the exact same sail.

<img src="https://reallysimplesails.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/12309643_1672768096334327_2877943937844448457_o-1.jpg" alt="Really simple lug sail prototype. " />

The sail is designed to work with either a loose footed setup with a stiff boom. Or a laced foot with a lighter boom.

If your boom is stiff then you can choose how to set the sail. The loose foot is better for performance in general.

If the boom is lighter and more flexible then the load along the foot needs to be spread out by a lacing.

Loose footed it is best just to have depth in the foot of the sail - a little loose

<img src="https://reallysimplesails.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/1553126_10203293711649338_1421922058_o.jpg" alt="Loose footed sail on a stiff boom on the Goat Island Skiff." />

If lacing - do the end attachments first to get the tension required. Then do the lacing after.

The idea is that the extra curve of the cloth is pushed straight and the extra sail area is pushed into the body of the sail to give the sail depth there.

In the head of the sail that ties along the yard, there is almost 6inches of curve that is also pushed straight.

I will send you a direct copy of this by email.

I will contact you directly by email. I have heard from our sail panel cutting contractors that they are not carrying cream cloth in dinghy weight any more.

White, Tanbark and other colours are available.

Hi Scott,

Sorry about the late reply. The website is supposed to inform me when there is a comment like yours. I've missed a few recently because it is not behaving properly.

The Elfyn sail would work with the smaller boat the price is $328 delivered to Continental USA so would be a bit more with shipping and tax to Canada.

Also be aware that Shawn Payment is using a standard Goose 89 square foot sail on his Bevin's skiff. He will reef it when necessary. The first reef would give an area similar to Tirrik and second reef down to a bit less than the original sail. <a href="http://www.duckworksbbs.com/sails/rss/index.htm" rel="nofollow">Those sails are available from Duckworks</a>.

Gentlemen,
Not sure if i am using the the most direct place for contacting you, but here goes:
i am very interested in purchasing one of your lug sails.
here is some info:
It would be for a Bevin's Skiff recently converted to sail; plans call for a leg o mutton rig, sprit boom, sail size 52 sq.ft.
But i like the look of a lug rig more.
So, as to size of sail?
of all your sails i am most interested in the one you made for the Elfyn. it is closest to the size i require.
(i was planning to build the Elfyn soon.)
Would the Elfyn sail work with the slightly smaller boat?
thanks for any info!
PS - I am in canada
