If building a boat from a plan
We have many many, many homebuild boats in our listings. But sometimes plan dimensions vary from earlier versions.
Take a photo of the sailplan page, email it to us and we will work out the sailplan, check it with you and then proceed to quote.

If you boat doesn’t have a rig at all, we can work it out for you
We can also work out spars and other rigging if we have measurements from your boat. We know how to design boats from scratch So if you have a boat without a rig we may be able to help you get it sailing more affordably than you think … read the next section
Hull but No Rig … no Problem
This photo is of a classic Thistle Dinghy. The owner had a few problems. The boat was overpowered for solo sailing, it didn’t have its expensive rig and from experience he knew it took too long to rig.
We designed a rig as a lugsail for its 5 minute setup and derigging and nice sailing performance. It also reefs easily down to a very small sail area when survival is the only point.
The great thing is that if the current owner or future owner wants to rerig it as a Class Compliant Thistle again there are no major modifications to the boat and the original rig can be refitted.
It isn’t possible for every boat. But it is possible for many.
My sails are so old
We can help there too. Send up a message through the contact form and we will send you information on measuring up the sails. Or if the sails are missing we will ask you to take measurements from the mast and boom to see what was there. Draw up the sails and compare to the centreboard or keel location to make sure the boat will have good handling characteristics.
